A blog about Warhammer 40K, and my favorite defenders of the Imperium the Imperial Guard. From tactics to painting, to just plain fluff. This is my take on the wonderful hobby that is 40K.

Blog & Podcast Updates
So I have been out of the loop, sorry but I have been travelling. I am currently visiting family and attending a wedding and thus my absence. I'll be mostly taken up due to that for the next week so have no worries, I have not disappeared and I will still post when I get a chance. I have another history post in the works that I am trying to get out in a couple of days if time allows. So I just wanted to take this time to give an update on things, mainly the podcast.

What is Militarum Tempestus Going to Look Like?
So a lot has been leaked the last few days, looking like someone got a hold of the next white dwarf. It looks to pretty much have all the rules for the new storm troopers as well as Taurox. Now there may be more to see that has been yet to leak. It is time for a dose of reality though, just to make sure we are not getting too many hopes up, even though things are looking to be good so far. So I am going to cover my thoughts on what the Tempestus Militarum codex is going to be, note this is not the main IG book.

Knight Battle Report: Knight/Inq vs SM & Necrons 500pts
So here is game 2 & 3. I kept the same list, my brother brought two tac squads in drop pods with meltas, and a librarian with drop pod to get the two tacs in round one. We got the scouring for mission with dawn of war deployment. I got first turn. He failed to seize. I deployed in the corner, he had his libby in his behind some terrain.
Kinght Battle Report: Knight/Inq vs Space Marines 500pts
Alright, so finally got a game in with the knight to test it out. We did 500pts just to check it out and see what the smallest army you could take this guy in. Both lists are legal. My brother was kind enough to be my punching bag, thanks for being a good sport and humoring me. Both our list are extreme, basically we are going to either win or lose totally. Played annihilation with standard deployment. The board was 4x4, at 500pts its hard to play on a large board.

Militarum Tempestus Rumors & Pics
Big rumors have broken for IG, more specifically on the Tempestus. The full line up of pics are here and here. I am really liking the new models more and more, they just look cool. I like that they are not just a redo of the old models either, they have nods to older models but they look different and are not a rehash of the old. The weapons look awesome and I am really excited to see the full stats on them, especially the hot shot volley gun. What also is cool is a laspistol chain blade!!!

Netlisting: Issues and Dangers
Net listing, the big evil bogeyman and much maligned practice of "noobs" going online to find uber lists so they can wreck face. Well its a little more complicated than that. Certainly people go online to find answers to their 40k problems, whether that is issues with their army list or tactics against the latest and greatest army. To the extreme of finding the most powerful list online and taking that to use against opponents at tournaments or not. For me, I see all of these different things as part of a greater whole that lets call net listing for lack of better term.

40k Current Events & I just Can't Wait for the Imperial Guard
Alright, lots of interesting releases have come out, most notably Imperial Knights. I have talked a little bit about them already so really no need to go into much detail there. I will do some Tactica on them, as I get games under my belt with them and theory becomes confirmed, though some theories will have to wait till I get more knights. Chaos had its recent release and another on its way, the helbrute formations. Also we finally see the void shield generator.

Wardens of the Gate: A History of Cadia
I'm going to try something new here. This is going to be a very fluffy post and is going to be solely focused on the Fortress World of Cadia, its history, and importance in the 40k universe. So if you are expecting some rules are tactics, read no further, this is for the fluff bunnies out there. Some have said that Cadians are the ultra smurfs of the Imperial Guard. In many ways this is true, but that's not a bad thing, someone has to be the high standard everyone else strives to reach. Note this is not to be taken too seriously.

Imperial Knight Hobby: Painted and House Fluff
So my knight has neared final completion. I have yet to do the base, but the painting is 90% complete except for the banner at the bottom, thank you another staff duty giving me more painting time. I was originally going with red and yellow for the accents, but the yellow was being a pain in the as and I really didn't like the look. So I changed it to the greed, which I later checker boarded with black to break up the solid color. The red will have the house and personal heraldic symbols for the knight. The House symbol is the Sword & Dragon, with the house being made up of multiple clans (will go into fluff more in a bit), the clan symbol being the lightening bolt, which is added in the top right corner.

Latest Imperial Guard Rumors
Ok, I know I am not the first to report this but I still want to talk about the overall leaks and rumors. Sorry I have been distracted with my knight this week and I am getting close to being done with painting, if such a thing can ever be done. But on to the rumors, the above is a pic of one of the new Ogryn models, and judging by the hat it is most likely Nork Deddog. There is a lot of hate on the new ogryns, and at first I wasn't too thrilled either, but I went and looked at my current ones, threw up a little in my mouth, and now they don't look so bad.

Building an Imperial Knight
Alright, now that I have talked about the Knight codex and the rules, I want to go over the kit itself. Obviously its no secret that I really like the kit. First off its got lots of detail and is easy to put together. It also is easy to pose and many parts don't require glue so you don't need to even decide on a static pose and can change it as you go. Magnetizing was pretty easy. Now I wanted to go with a helmet that was more norse looking and less medieval.

Having a Hobby, a Life, and a Wife
If you can't tell by the post title, this is going to be a step back from the hobby and be a little run down about how the hobby can affect life in general and how it can compete with the other priorities in life. Make no mistake, if you are not married, this does not mean you are excluded, its just my point of view since I am married. It is important to take a look at the effect the hobby can have on your life in general because it can be too easy to become so focused on the hobby that you can neglect other parts of your life, and the people in it. We talk so much about the hobby that the things that the hobby also affects are often forgotten about.

Imperial Knight Review: Codex & Model
The knight and codex are now out and since I am a big fan of this model I wanted to do a full review of both the codex and the model itself. As many have stated, it is gorgeous and has a lot of great detail in the model. On top of that it is great for customization and a pretty easy model to build and paint on top of that. The codex itself is usual GW fair, meaning excellent artwork and some really good fluff.

Imperial Guard Rumors & Imperial Knights
Well this weekend has seen a lot come out and it is looking interesting. First as you can see, my fears were confirmed and we have a new name :(. Oh well. No I don't love it, but unfortunately its not my army to name, as much as I wish it was. Now there were also other leaked images and if you haven't seen them, I'm sure you know the good rumor sites to find them. It shows the new vehicle kit, a command squad kit as well as a hardback codex for Militarum Tempestus. It 72 pages so this is a supplement for the main IG dex, looking to be a storm trooper focused one.

Knight Fluff & Color Scheme
I picked up my Knight over the weekend but it has remained in its box for now. Mainly is because I have enough models in the que right now that need painting and work, the biggest being my Warhound Titan: Vindex Draconis. So yeah I have a few things to paint. Luckily I finished the psykers the other night and with my buddy letting me use his airbrush, my three new chimeras are nice and green with only detail work left. I will have to say I am now sold on an airbrush and if any of you are serious in the hobby even a little, go get one, they are so amazingly awesome and will save so much time on your part. Anyways, I have been thinking about my Knight and how I want him to align and what colors to go with, I really want him to stand out from my IG, as I really don't need another green thing.

Future of the Blog and Other Endeavors
As things keep going and the blog keeps growing there are things I want to add and do. Obviously tactics and thoughts of the Imperial Guard will always remain the main focus of this blog, I can guarantee that this will not change. I would like to add more community based segments though, as I like seeing what everyone else thinks and does, as this is a community hobby at its core. I also have an announcement that is related to the blog if not solely about it.
