A blog about Warhammer 40K, and my favorite defenders of the Imperium the Imperial Guard. From tactics to painting, to just plain fluff. This is my take on the wonderful hobby that is 40K.

Much Ado About Nothing
Been out of the loop due to thanksgiving. Sorry, hosting thanksgiving is great, but busy and time consuming. It all paid off though in that on the day of, everything went smoothly and food was good. In 40k news there has been a "controversy" over some new bases. This is pretty silly, and seems like people making an issue out of nothing.
Basically there is a new base size for the death company in the deathstorm box set. Of course cue the end times "now I have to rebase my entire army!!! FU GW!!!!" etc. Except you don't. Per the rules themselves the official base size for the model is the one they come with out of their box. So no space marines don't all have to be converted to 32mm just because the internet squeals.
Besides, who is going to give enough of a crap to try and force you to do so? TOs, sure they love alienating players and not getting them to pay to come to their events, they hate money. Or those GW tournament circuits that don't exist and even if they did you wouldn't have to anyway because their own rules say you don't need to. So whats the big fucking deal?
So how about quiet down and stop stirring the pot for no f'ing reason. This isn't even approaching a level beyond "hmph, interesting." OOHH its a different base size, whats the evil plan? Oh right there isn't one. Hey maybe in the long run these new bases will be phased in, even then thats not a bad or good thing, it just is. Base sizes have changed for units over the years. Not a big deal, I'm sure termies would be great on their old base size, except they barely fit. So this is news that really isn't news, calm down there is no base conspiracy. Your armies are safe from the imaginary base nazis coming to force you to rebase everything.
GG
Lolz.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you, new around here or sumpthin'?
It's been like a week since we had anything to flip out over.
This will hold us down until statlines from the new Sparkly-Vampire-Beakies start showin' up later this week, and we can complain about them.
40k bro.
Get with the program.
;)
Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta rile some folks up by picking a codex and saying it's whacked in a comment thread somewhere...
I do forget, how long a week can seem. Get to it, trolls must be roused from under their bridges
DeletePicking a codex? hahahaha, a Coin toss would get it done pretty easily these days, Wyches or Nids?

Often times, these are my favourite post of yours. You and Skari from SkaredCast always help keep my positive vibes flowing.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work man and looking forward to more grump musings.
I have to agree, it good to see someone still has their head screwed on and actually bothers to read the rules. I was trying to figure out what all the fuss was about! I've got 2nd ed HW teams that didn't even come with bases! And technically you can use any base you like as the rules just assume that you use the bases supplies.
DeleteThanks, I try. It just seems so many are looking for any reason to complain, even if they have to make up an issue to complain about.
DeleteThe internet flipping out is one of the reasons we all are on it. It's highly entertaining!
ReplyDeletebut tiresome sometimes
DeleteHey grumpy. Would you consider looking at the Solar Auxilla? They're the OG IG!
ReplyDeleteI would, but would need to see the rules, and I am not getting the horus heresy books. I don't play 30k.
DeleteToooorrrrents! :P
