A blog about Warhammer 40K, and my favorite defenders of the Imperium the Imperial Guard. From tactics to painting, to just plain fluff. This is my take on the wonderful hobby that is 40K.

Hobby Progress: Custom Wolf Priest WIP
Was able to get to work on my custom wolf priest, as I really don't like the existing models that much. I used space wolf body parts and got the special edition dark angel chaplain so that I would have plastic crozius, and I ended up using the helmet as I couldn't get a custom wolf helmet that looked good (attempts to make one failed). He looks wolfy enough to work, I may end up buying a finecast ulrik the slayer in the end though.
I attached wolf skulls to the crozius after getting rid of the DA iconography, and added plenty of wolf bits to him. He has a storm bolter and plasma pistol, depending on how I want to kit him out. I have the highlight work left to do, got a little bit done, but since he is pretty much an all black model, more is needed to stand out more. But all thats left is touch up.
In any case, he works for my purposes and will def do. And I hate painting yellow btw, such a pain, always seems to take so many layers to get a solid color on it. I'm happy, I never go for painting competitions, so just has to be good enough for me.

I'm doing yellow as part of my Knight color scheme and I certainly feel you about the paint is. Getting a nice uniform color is impossible without tons of time spent on many little layers. Very frustrating but pretty when its done.
ReplyDeleteyeah, once its done it looks good, but it takes so long to get there
DeletePlease don't do the baby blue as your main color, the Sons of Russ should have a gray/white scheme. Other than thatI love the model, and the irony if using a DA models for Space Wolves.
ReplyDeletePersonally I like fenrisian grey on my wolves, which is the color I use, it looks bluer than it actually is, lighting and such makes it look bluer for some reason.
