A blog about Warhammer 40K, and my favorite defenders of the Imperium the Imperial Guard. From tactics to painting, to just plain fluff. This is my take on the wonderful hobby that is 40K.

Skitarii Posibilities
The new rumors going the rounds is Admech, with skitarii being the main event in the rumors. I really don't know, I want to believe it, but its hardly the first Admech rumor to come about. For me the hard part is that there are no pics, of anything, and the rumor mill has been on lock down for quite a while. Being that unless pics are leaked, most rumors have not panned out. But who knows, maybe a pic will be leaked soon or this could be one of the few cases where the rumor slipped the cracks.
And I'll be honest, this is one of my top wants for 40k, next to deathwatch. So as much skepticism that I have, I really do hope this pans out. If it does, I don't expect it to be a big codex, this will prob end up being Tempestus like codex, small amount of units, but ones that are very functional and multi role, capable of being built to do different jobs.
By the rumors, there should be some interesting walker/mc, hopefully mc, but GW is deluded in thinking that walkers are good so it'll prob be a walker. In the end though, we will see. Just don't want my hopes too high.

I do hope it works out, and if not, I'll just build/convert a mechanicum army based on the FW rules. Deathwatch would be cool for a squad or two, but that's not a priority.
ReplyDeleteUntil then, when I'm not building Alphas, I'll convert leftover guardsmen sprues to skitarii cannon fodder, they'll be usable both as IG recruits (can't have enough) and AdMech thralls (recruits with more options) and keep me occupied.
I think that it will be next year before admech is released and we won't get any good pics till the end of this year. I also feel that this will be a small codex, like the MT codex, but that the current FW stuff will be playable, albeit with modified rules through an IA book. I think that this will happen because I think that FW and GW will move closer together, with FW concentrating more on HH and a lot of models converting over to plastic GW. I'm not saying this will happen next week, but I think in the next few years, but I could also be completely wrong!
ReplyDeleteI don't think the release will be so far out, unless it's entirely a hoax. The increasing rumors mean that it won't be that far out, and it would fit considering that almost all codices got updates. They can't possibly crank out all codices anew, so the rumors of this year being mostly mini-dexes are realistic. Tempestus and Imperial Knights proved the mini-dex possibility, and AdMech has been on the wishlist of a lot of people for a long time, just like Deathwatch and Harlequins.
DeleteTieing in the FW models via IA seems realistic to me, as all the other HH goodness has already done that. But moving closer together seems not to be the case, rather going out of each other's way. The new IG codex proved that, removing all models that are FW only, replacing where necessary (hydra, small-calibre artillery) and outsourcing everything else to IA (gryphon, medusa, bombard). The same scheme would fit with Skitarii, as Skitarii are AdMech guard, something entirely different than FWs Legio Cybernetica, which is entirely artificial battle robots (from Epic). Good for us, because it opens up more possibilities.
Deathwatch is probably coming first. Way easier to deuce it a supplement or microdex for deathwatch (ally with all imperial armies for max sales, natch) and just dump a marked up sternguard box with an upgrade sprue (probably with a suspensor heavy bolter and some shoulder pads) and a clampack than all the work up front and continuing with skitarii
ReplyDeleteabsolutely, I don't see skitarii coming for a while, if its even true. Deathwatch would be easy, a dataslate codex like assassins or inq. I'll be happy with either releases in any case.
