A blog about Warhammer 40K, and my favorite defenders of the Imperium the Imperial Guard. From tactics to painting, to just plain fluff. This is my take on the wonderful hobby that is 40K.

Where Are You Imperial Guard Players Located
Ok I have added a poll to the blog, going to try something new out. Something that I always find interesting and cool is that this hobby is so widespread and enjoyed around the world. So that is the question of the day. Where are you IG players located? Feel free to respond in the comments as well and you can add your region/city and not just your city. For example I am in the Puget Sound area of Washington State, USA.
I find that certain areas and regions tend to have favorite armies. Here Tau and Chaos are very common. So answer the poll and answer below. Muster for the Guard. What world are your from?

ReplyDeleteHey,
ReplyDeleteI am from Germany. Right now I'm located in Charlotte NC. Here in Charlotte I saw a couple Tau and Nids players.
The gaming community in my hometown in Germany is much bigger. And I think most people play different armys. Before I left I had to fight a lot of Taudar and so on.
Cheers
Manassas, VA USA.
ReplyDeleteParaparaumu, Kapiti, New Zealand. Huge community in this small town here.
ReplyDeleteWhitby, Ontario, Canada.
ReplyDeletePraetorian Guard will be my third army in about 6+ months or so. In Southeastern Pennsylvania, USA. Enjoy reading your tactica section.
ReplyDeleteHave you checked out Victoria Miniatures? Great Praetorians on there.
DeleteHere are mine
http://theimperialpatrol.blogspot.co.nz/p/praetorian-guard-army-in-nut-sell.html
Here they are in store
http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/products/victorian-guard?pagesize=12
They really are an improvement over the old 40k ones in terms of availability and the shipping is great!
I am a Praetorian man myself and have been for the last 17 odd years!
DeleteHappily, I live up the road from Victoria Lamb (of Victoria Miniatures), in Adelaide, South Australia.
I'm sitting on about 200 of the GW Praetorians, a bunch of their Heavy Weapons Teams, several Chimeras, Leman Russ, and other IG tanks, as well as the old plastic Stormtroopers with the berets (I think they could look cool painted up in Praetorian red and blue). I've been hoarding bits to convert Praetorian Rough Riders. I have the old Macharius figure that will look cool all painted up in gold. And I have ordered stuff from Victoria Miniatures (they have a lot of great stuff). I intend to use a few of their Pith Heads to make a "counts-as" Creed among others. I've also been eying up their Penal Guard models.
DeleteReading this blog has me pretty stoked to finally paint up the lot.
Nice army and blog, Jayden.
Col. Ackland, very convenient for you!
Thanks dude, and its nice to see the Praetorian Legacy carried on! Sipping tea and rank fire is how the real fighting gets done haha.
DeleteIm located in Illinois, although my local gamestore has like 3 other guard players (atleast)
DeleteBrisbane, Australia here.
ReplyDeleteSydney Australia. I don't really get to many events but Guard never seem to be popular here.... which is great! I love being the underdog! ;)
ReplyDeleteI just started a guard army. Assembling troopers right now
ReplyDeleteFrom Tokyo.
ReplyDeleteHere, we have a very interesting environment with lot of different armies.
Strange Fact, there is almost no vanilla Space Marines, I only saw once a Raven Guard player. (SW, BA are present)
There are some pure IG players but a lot of players ally with IG for Vendetta and some artillery or Hydra.
Especially GK, so there is a lot of painted black tank here.
Vraks, you loyalist scum!
ReplyDeleteMexico City, Mexico. Many players here. Chaos, Tau and Dark Angels are common.
ReplyDeleteFrom Bavaria, Germany. Many Tau and Eldar here at the moment, especially on tournaments
ReplyDeleteGermany - Nordrheinwestfalen - Münster, many Tau and Eldar, like Angel-the_Fang said, despite the fact that i am on the other end of germany.
ReplyDeleteNyköping Sweden, Seems to be alot of taudar and necrons arond, most of the IG players have bagged their guard in favor of something with a little more OP
ReplyDeleteCzech Republic, Ostrava :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm from Paderborn, Germany.
ReplyDeleteThere are very few guard players around to hold the line, most play loyalist marines, Tau or Eldar. Or the flavor of the month of course.
Funny thing though, the few enthusiasts who still play guard as their primary army all still have projects to keep them busy.
Be it conversions, pure tank companies or stuff like that, there's always something to expand, unlike the "I have 1000 gaunts and 50 MCs, I'm done" of other armies.
Lausanne, Switzerland
ReplyDeleteNottingham, England
ReplyDelete( 20 minutes walk from the World Headquarters and factory- Design studios and Forge World's Production and distribution facility. Not forgetting the famous Warhammer World games centre, shop and Bugmans Bar!)
Yes- I do get to meet the guys who design and make the stufff!

ReplyDeleteMonroe, Wisconsin- I have Steel Legion (and several other armies also). A friend who lives in Dakota, Illinois plays Cadians exclusively. There are a handful of Guard players who play in the tournament scene of Madison, Wisconsin also. Tau, Eldar, Daemons, and Necrons are currently the most popular at the moment.
ReplyDeleteLondon, UK. We get all sorts of armies, though now I think of it very few Orks.
ReplyDeleteHarrisburg, PA. Lots of space marines and Tau. Great blog by the way.

ReplyDeleteI am in Lacey actually, right next door. I play at OCC. I prob have faced him, I know a sisters player.
DeleteI am jealous, I do not have any 3rd ed models anymore, I used to at one point, but they have been sold or lost over the years
About 10k of guard here in Dartmouth, MA about an hour south of Boston. I have some steel legion, some tallern, a lot of catachans and a ton of misc models to use as guard. 28 tanks and counting.

ReplyDeleteLove your blog, keep up the good work!
Fresno California!
ReplyDeleteIm sorry, Im from Northern California orginally
DeleteSacramento here. Best part about Hwy 99 is if you travel another hour further south from wherever you are, you'll find a bigger sh*thole.
DeleteThis is also true
DeleteUtrecht, Netherlands. Been collecting guard since 2nd edition, mostly Cadian models nowadays that I use as Jopall Indentured Squadrons in cityfight camouflage. Great blog, big thanks for all your efforts!
ReplyDeleteWhat models do you use for the Jopall?
DeleteI convert Cadians, I remove all shoulder pads and try to make them look like real veterans, using Elysian and renegade forge world bits, autoguns, gun straps made from green stuff, non-helmet heads, catachan command squad bits. I also make the housing of their lasguns shorter to make them look more like assault rifles. I really like the fluff for the Jopall, fighting to pay off their debt to their government. So I figured individual troopers would use all sorts of non-regulated equipment so that they can kill the enemy faster, thus paying their debt faster. I read somewhere in the fluff that once a trooper is considered to have paid his debt, he is allowed to return to Jopall to live as a free man.
DeleteThe only time I have read about them other than a picture in WD or the IG Codex was in the book Redemption Corps. The air crews assigned to the storm trooper were Jopall Indentured. The pilot was upset because the Commissar had the tallies of the kills the aircrew had made and happened not to be in the area. I would love to see some pics.
DeleteDecatur Illinois here. I play in Springfield and I like going to AdeptiCon in Chicago. I have been playing since 4th edition and have collected many armies.
ReplyDeleteI play in a tournament today 1750. I hope I do better than last time lol!
Deleteseem I'm a little late to the party, originally from London, croydon, but now living in sunderland, in the north east of England.
ReplyDeletethere are is a good mix of players up here, but I'm the only regular guardsman. and I just got tabled by a drop pod SW list!
Montreal, Canada, because everyone know that Cadian is short for Canadian or maybe not...
ReplyDeleteMarshall, MN playing IG, Inquisition, and Grey Knights. Small gaming club of 4.
ReplyDeleteKuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Lots of IG since year 2000 (infantry, mechanized, tank, superheavy, aircav). Also play Eldar, Ravenwing, Thousand Sons, IN BFG. Gaming club called Legio Malaysia. Most armies well-represented, except for Orks - only a handful of those.
ReplyDeleteStouffville Ontario, Canada
ReplyDeleteBaltimore Maryland, USA
ReplyDeleteBavaria, South of Germany.
ReplyDeleteDF, Mexico
ReplyDeleteBarcelona, Spain
ReplyDeleteSpringfield, Virginia, USA.
ReplyDeleteMost armies are well represented, and there are very few who play net or cheese lists. Those that do don't play them in casual games. I haven't seen any true Grey Knights players, though some people take them as allies. There's even a Sisters player.
Nowra, Australia.
