Imperial Guard Hobby: Guest Army of Nod

So today had some pics sent in from one a guest and follower, Maj Neese.  He sent in pics of his pretty sweet Brotherhood of Nod themed IG army.  I am a long CnC fan and though I have been GDI all the way, this is still a pretty sweet army.  Has lot of great detail especially with the green and tiberium crystals all over the place.  There are a lot of great conversions and I especially like the land speeder storm turned scout car.  The Nod saucer is also pretty awesome.  The army looks great with all the green popping out.  I like it and the command squad with all the Nod heroes is pretty sweet.  Here is the big look at the army:

I think the only thing missing is a Tiberium miner, then it would all be complete :).  Here is a close up look of Harker and also of the converted speeder.

The buggy is pretty darn cool and the detail on harker is also awesome, he is certainly killing some GDI.  Now can anyone answer the call and show their GDI colors?  If you have some please send pics in as I would be happy to respond to this NOD menace.

Also please feel free to send in any of your hobby pics, I love sharing and looking at everyone's conversions and everything you do to make your army your own.  If you want to send pics please do and leave info on your army and pics for me to post.

Hope you all enjoy this as much as I do.

  2. I like sharing. Not everyone has or wants a blog but doesn't mean they don't have sweet models to show off. I love spreading the IG love

    1. one is a Taurus venator, its FW seen here http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard/Elysian_Drop_Troops/ELYSIAN_TAUROS_ASSAULT_VEHICLE.html

The other is a kit bashed land speeder. He uses it as a land speeder even though it has wheels.

    1. Yes they are, you should check out the forge world site, if only for the eye candy. There are lots of cool things up there.

The above army is a heavily modified and personalized army, and its a great example of what you can do with the standard Cadian models that GW makes.

  6. Its very awesome! Im in the middle of building a IG as my first army and my go this route if at all possible. Im also assuming that the book has all the necessary tools to build the army?

  7. The Codex has all the rules for building your army list, which I recommend you do before you buy too many models. Also the new codex will be released next month, so there will be many changes as well, so I suggest some patience for a few more weeks :)

  9. So which Imperial Armor book should be used to get the most up to date info to build a list? Also is it just a fluff army or is it viable to play as a main army?

    1. The Main IG codex is still your go to, it will just be getting a big change in the next month.

The forge world stuff is great for fluff armies, but some people don't like forge world so you may encounter people who don't want to play against you if you are bringing a forge world one.

  10. Why do players not like the FW stuff? If I were to build a FW army is there a specific book to use? I see a bunch of volumes of Imperial Armor online.

    1. Some FW units are VERY powerful, so they are not seen as True units either since they are not in the main armies codex. There are different FW armies, so the siege of Vraks has the Death Korps of Krieg and the Taros Campaign has Elsyians, the Doom of Myerma has a modified cadian army, there is no one you see, they are all specialist armies so they lack certain units but have their own special rules.

Eylsians can't take any tanks at all, only flyers and their little buggies. Krieg cannot take all the flyers and any of the vehicle artillery, but they get access to dismounted artillery and their own special ones.

Not all imperial armor books have IG in them though, so check out what is in them before buying them. I would stick with the main codex, figure out how you like to play, then go the FW route if you really want to.

  11. I see. That does make for few options. It seems like the FW armies is meant to fight against FW armies. No worries I can still create something Id have fun with. Some of those FW units are just amazing though!
